Zoom Video Conferencing is the platform we will use to host our Virtual Discussion Groups.
Here are directions on setting up this free program that lets you interact with others through your computer or smartphone:
- Go to www.zoom.us on your computer or install the Zoom app on your smartphone.
- Click blue button in upper right corner “SIGN UP, IT’S FREE.”
- Follow instructions to enter your name and email.
- Test your Zoom account by clicking on this link: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/3888262019
Zoom should open and take you to an online test meeting. You should be able to see yourself on the screen. (If you don’t see yourself, others won’t see you! If your computer doesn’t have a camera, it’s ok. Just your name will appear.)
Click the microphone to MUTE or UNMUTE your sound.
You can turn off/ on the camera by clicking the camera icon if you don’t want people to see you. Your name will still show up that you are part of the meeting.
Utilize the CHAT function if you would rather type in a question instead of talking. (See the RAISE YOUR HAND option? This lets the facilitator know you have a question/comment.)
